10 Must Have Investments For Your Blog
1. Self-host your blog
Are you currently using a free platform for your blog? Don’t stress too much – but if you want to turn your blog into a full time business I do recommend you go self-hosted.
It’s actually really easy to go self-hosted and you don’t need to be tech savvy either. It’s a win-win situation.
In order to be self-hosted you need to choose a hosting company that will host your blog.
My friends at Siteground have you covered! Their hosting packages start for as low as $3.95 per month – which is actually less than your daily cup of coffee. I personally use the GrowBig plan – however, you can always upgrade at any time!
If you’re transferring from another hosting company and you’re not exactly sure how to make the switch – Siteground will help you!
Siteground’s customer service is amazing – they respond to you in less than a few hours and will help you with any questions you may have with your blog.

2. Your own domain name
Is your current domain www.yourblog.blogspot.com or www.yourblog.wordpress.com? Sure, you can totally use that domain name, but if you want to be taken seriously I do recommend purchasing your own domain name.
This actually goes hand in hand with being self-hosted. You can either purchase your own domain name through your hosting company or through Namecheap.
I recommend purchasing your domain name through Namecheap. Domain names start for as low as 99c – which is a bargain!
Click here to register your name on Namecheap.
3. A good WordPress theme
There are so many wonderful WordPress themes out there and investing in a good one will help your blog look fabulous and gain your audiences trust.
A good premium WordPress theme can cost between $50-$75.
I currently use Pipdig for my theme. Pipdig’s themes are incredibly easy to customize – which is a huge plus!
Here are a few other places you can find beautiful WordPress themes.
4. Stock images
I use stock images to create my pins for Pinterest, as well as throughout Hello Tegan. I’m not a photography wiz and I don’t have a lot of time to take my own photos – stock photos are literally my best friend!
I use Styled Stock Society to find the best stock photos. I am seriously in love with every single stock photo on SSS.
SSS offer quarterly memberships for $75, annual for $225 and lifetime access for $395.
Here are some other great places to find stock photos.
Creative Market – a great place to find stock photo bundles for really affordable prices.
5. Canva for work
Canva is one of my most used editing tools ever – honestly, I don’t know what I would do without Canva. I decided to take the leap and purchase Canva for Work, because I can upload my own fonts and create my Pinterest pins without having any font limitations.

6. Pinterest Scheduler – Tailwind
Tailwind is my go to Pinterest scheduling tool. I use Tailwind to schedule all of pins for Pinterest, as well as other peoples pins. Tailwind is a huge time saver – sure, you can manually pin (I still do), but if you’re on a tight time schedule, I highly recommend using Tailwind.
The great thing about Tailwind is that it is a Pinterest approved scheduler, which means you won’t have to worry about your Pinterest account getting marked for spam. Woohoo!
I personally love and use Tailwind tribes to help boost my blog traffic and I have seen some really great results since using Tailwind tribes.

7. An email marketing provider – MailerLite
MailerLite will literally become your best friend in no time and the awesome thing about MailerLite is that it is free to use for up to 1,000 subscribers and starts $10 there after.
I use MailerLite to send out updates to my subscribers, create sequences and new opt in forms for Hello Tegan.
I love MailerLite because it is so incredibly easy to use! You won’t feel like you’re scratching your head – cause there are some email marketing providers that are just a little bit of a pain. They even offer a drag and drop editor, which makes it even easier for you and can save you a bunch of time too.

Another best friend will be G Suite for Business. I love and use G Suite for Business nearly on a daily basis – it has helped incredibly with Hello Tegan.
G Suite for Business even allows you to create your own customer email address, for example – email@example.com.
Each G Suite for Business account comes with 30GB of online storage – which is great! If you feel like you need more, you can upgrade to the business or enterprise edition.
Another great thing about G Suite for Business, is that you can access it on any device in any location.

9. Landing page templates
There are so many platforms that offer great services to help you create the best landing pages for your blog, however, most them charge a monthly fee.
Some charge $30 per month and some charge nearly $100 per month! Pretty crazy, right?
I don’t think it’s necessary to have to pay a monthly fee to be able to create beautiful landing pages.
That’s where Bluchic landing page templates come into play! I personally love Bluchic landing page templates – they’re incredibly easy to customize and you can create them to suit your blog – yay!
The great thing is that you don’t have to pay a monthly fee to use them. They’re a one off fee of $109 forever!
You don’t have to spend hours and hours on end creating beautiful landing pages – when Bluchic has done all the hard work for you.

Last by certainly not least, is to investment in good blogging courses that are actually worth your dollar.
If you’re looking for an affordable Pinterest course I recommend Pinterest with Ell. This is the course that helped me boost my traffic as a new blogger – I don’t know where I’d be without this course!
Pinterest with Ell walks you through everything you need to know about Pinterest and Tailwind. Lauren will even show you her own Pinterest strategies – which is a huge plus!
Another course I recommend is Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. If you are looking to monetize your blog and earn a living from your blog this is the course that you have to take!
The creator of this course, Michelle Schroeder-Gardner makes over $100,000+ from her blog every single month – yeah, goals right?
This is the course that helped me make my first affiliate sale in less than 24 hours!
