Below are a list of recommendations of tools and resources that I truly love and use for my blog.
Please note that some of these links include affiliate links. If you make a purchase through my affiliate link I will earn a commission. This is provided at no extra cost to you.
Siteground – I use Siteground to host Hello Tegan. Out of the many hosting providers I have used Siteground is hands down the best! Siteground has very minimal down time, which means that you don’t have to worry about your blog going offline while there’s someone on your blog or if you’re working on a new post. Woohoo!
Siteground offer hosting packages for as low as $3.95 per month (cheaper than your morning coffee!)
WordPress.org – Hands down the most amazing blogging platform out there. If you want a professional looking blog and biz, WordPress is your go to! You will need to have hosting provider to be able to use WordPress.org. You can customize your blog with so many different plugins and make it look just the way you want it!
Email marketing software
There heaps of email marketing software companies out there, however, it is all about finding the best one that suits you and your blog.
MailerLite – This is who I use to send out emails to my subscribers. I personally love using Mailerlite.
Mailerlite’s platform is super easy to use and creating forms and emails are a cinch!
Mailerlite is free for up to 1,000 subscribers and $10+ per month thereafter – super affordable or what?
MailChimp – Another great email marketing software company is MailChimp. I personally did use them for a while when I first started blogging.
Mailchimp is free for up to 2,000 subscribers $10 per month thereafter.
ConvertKit – ConvertKit has some pretty neat features. ConvertKit is a paid email marketing software company starting at just $29 per month.
Email Service Provider AKA ESP
GSuite – Gsuite is an absolutely awesome ESP and is worth the money! I only pay $5 per month for Gsuite (which is the basic version). For $5 a month you get your own @yourcompany.com email address. Mine is firstname.lastname@example.org. 30GB of storage (which is plenty), access to Google Docs and more. You can sign up for GSuite here and try it out for free for 14 days.
Storing and writing important documents
Google Docs – It’s free forever and you can store important notes, write documents, create spreadsheets, presentations and more. You can also access your documents from anywhere and any device at anytime!
Google Drive – Google allows you to have 15GB of storage on them – amazing! I have only used just over 2GB on my personal and I don’t think I will be using the whole 15GB anytime soon. Google Drive also allows you to access your files from anywhere and any device at anytime.
I personally love to use stock photos on Hello Tegan. I also use stock photos to create my Pinterest pins. Adding images to your site can give it a vibrant, happy feel. There are heaps of wonderful websites for beautiful stock photos and you will never go a stray!
The above stock photo sites also offer free stock photos for all! Yay!
There are so many websites that offer gorgeous WordPress themes and at affordable prices as well. You won’t have to worry about seeing a large chunk out of your bank account. 😉
Divi – Design your own WordPress theme!
Canva – I love and use Canva to create all of my Pinterest images and any other graphics I need to create. Canva is 100% free to use, however, there are paid options available. I personally use Canva for Work because I can upload my own fonts to help create awesome designs and you get unlimited storage! Canva for Work is $12.95 per month.
Font Bundles – A seriously great place to find hundreds and hundreds of fonts that will suit you. You can download Font Bundles for under $10 and there are usually around 40+ fonts in ONE bundle. Talk about savings!! You can use these fonts for commercial use too. Font Bundles even offer free fonts!
Creative Market – With so many stock photos, illustrations, themes, fonts, etc for as low as $2 you will be set. If you sign up to Creatve Market’s email list you will receive six free goods every single week.
It is super important to say legal while you’re blogging. No need to stress because your girl Christina Scalera from The Contract Shop has you covered!
You can alter each contract to suit you and your blog.
Blogging eBooks & Courses
I have purchased my fair share of eBooks and courses – let me tell you, there are some hits and some total misses. Below are the ones that I truly recommend taking if you want to get your own blog off the ground.
The Genius Blogger’s Toolkit – Chances are you have probably already heard of The Genius Blogger’s Toolkit and for a good reason! Each year Ultimate Bundles release the toolkit which features eBooks, courses and much more for a heavily discounted price and generally the bundle is worth over $3,000+ The unfortunate news is that it is only available once a year and for a limited amount of time. I do recommend it because it is jam packed with so much valuable information and the value for money is totally worth it.
Adventures in SEO – Hands down Adventures in SEO is one of the best SEO (Search Engine Optimization) courses I have ever taken. Lena from What Mommy Does explains everything with great detail and will walk you through step by step to get the best SEO results. The course is currently unavailable at the moment, however, you can join the waiting list by clicking here.
Pinterest with Ell – A super affordable course by the lovely Lauren Duclos. Lauren breaks down everything you need to know about Pinterest and how to master it to make it work for you. The course is priced at $32 and is an amazing price considering the course is packed with so much actionable information.
