25 New Years Resolution Ideas


Can you believe that New Years is right around the corner? I certainly cannot believe it! 2018 has flown by so quickly and I’m slightly worried that 2019 may be the same!

Now, I don’t know about you but I really do enjoy making New Years resolutions, however, actually sticking to them is another thing! For example, I would like cut down on drinking coffee or eventually stop – but it just hasn’t happened yet!

If you’re wanting to make some New Years resolutions for 2019 and you’re not quite sure what you want do, don’t panic! Below are 25 New Years resolution ideas for you!

25 New Years Resolution Ideas

1.  Cut down on caffeine or give it up all together!

If you’re a caffeinated beverage lover like me and want to cut down or give up all together, perhaps right in the new year is the perfect timing for you.

I’m not one to quit something cold turkey – even if I do try, I end up failing!

I suggest slowly, but surely!

2. Drink more water

How many glasses of water should you drink each day? The magic number is eight!

I keep a 2L bottle of water at my desk each day and it has helped a lot to increase my water in take. I do try and drink the whole bottle throughout the day.

3. Read more books – like, actual books!

When was the last time you picked up a physical book and read it? For me, definitely a while ago!

These days you can read a book through your phone, tablet or reading device – it’s just so easy.

What about picking up an actual book and reading it?

This is definitely one resolution on my list for sure!

4. Exercise more

Now, I’m not a huge fan of exercise haha! But, I do know that it is good for you.

Pick a sport or physical activity that you enjoy doing or know you’ll enjoy doing and keep at it.

I have decided that I really enjoy taking walks and playing basketball in the backyard. Who needs a gym membership?

5. Eat healthier

In conjunction of exercise – it also comes down to healthy eating. I’ve always been told that abs are made in the kitchen too!

6. Save more money

7. Start a side hustle

What’s your dream? Is it start a side hustle or to start your own business and ditch your day job?

8. Get better quality sleep

How many hours of sleep do you get each night? Are you up all night on your phone, watching TV or on your laptop?

Turn it off at a reasonable time and get some shut eye.

I am 100% guilty of this! I go to bed around any where between 10:30pm – 12:00am. I’m usually working on my blog or watching a good documentary on Youtube.

9. Meditate

Did you know that meditation can clear the mind, body and soul? How about 30 minutes of meditation each night or in the morning before a big day.

10. Get more organized

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel so incredibly unorganized and I actually am starting to hate on being unorganized at times.

11. Feel more confident

In general to feel more confident about yourself or doing things in life that you had never felt confident doing before.

12. Spend more time with family and friends

These days everyone has such a busy and jam packed schedule! It is always nice to find the time to sit down or go out and spend some good quality time with your family or friends.

13. Cleanse your body

Whether that be an after Christmas cleanse or a weekly cleanse to help nourish your body.

14. Random acts of kindness

It’s always a great feeling to be kind to other people. Perhaps pay for someone else’s morning coffee or help someone who is in need.

15. Take a step back from the digital world

It was so easy to get caught up in the digital world – especially in other people’s lives as well. Take a step back, have a small digital detox and come back when you’re ready. A small digital detox never hurt nobody!

16. Be more productive

Do you have something you’re working on? If you want to be more productive, perhaps do all important jobs first and then leave the smaller ones until later. Work on what is a priority for you!

17. Use a planner

Yes, I highly recommend using a planner. Before I purchased a planner (in fact I have one for work and one for my blog), I thought they were boring and I would never use one! Well, I was wrong! A planner can help in so many ways and can help you stay organised!

18. Volunteer

Help out someone else and volunteer at your local op shop, animal shelter or volunteer to help out your neighbours! There are many wonderful ways to give a helping hand.

19. Wipe away your debts!

This is one of my biggest goals for the New Year. I plan to wipe away my smaller debts by June 2019! Make it a goal to get that extra baggage off your shoulders. Say no to no more debt!

While I’m Aussie girl, I actually took the chance to read Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover book and it helped so much! Yes, Dave aims the book towards American’s – however, I do believe you can take the actions and tips from his book and apply them to your everyday life no matter where you are in the world.

20. Build an emergency fund

Have you started an emergency fund? What if your car suddenly broke down or you have an unexpected doctor’s bill to pay? I highly recommend starting one if you haven’t! I built my fund up to $5,000 in just over 3 months and it has been a life saver!

21. Declutter your house

Chances are you may have some clutter around your house that you just don’t need! My plan is to go through all of my clothes and either donate them or throw out the ripped and holey ones. I have so many clothes and they’re all old and smelly haha.

22. Find a new hobby

Make room for a new hobby. Find something that you love and will enjoy doing. I have recently learned that I like to play basketball – although, it’s only in the backyard at home and it’s basically just shooting the ball through a hoop!

23. Find new places to visit

You never know what amazing places you could find right in your backyard. Perhaps, there’s a small town near where you live and you’ve always wanted to go and check it out – I say go for it! Maybe there’s a place in your own town that you’ve always wanted to go and visit too!

I recently discovered this beautiful lake, which is about a 15 minute walk from home and it is truly amazing!

24. Get creative!

Everyone has a creative side to them. Learn to get more creative. I bet there’s something about yourself you may have not known before.

25. Learn something new everyday

There is always something new to learn everyday. Challenge yourself to learn something new everyday!
